Sidney, British Columbia, October 21, 2019 – AXYS, a global provider of data monitoring solutions and turnkey offshore monitoring campaigns, is pleased to announce the addition of Richard Khaira-Creswell as the Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) and Senior Principle Metocean Engineer. The PMO at AXYS coordinates efforts company-wide to help the company meet and exceed their clients’ Floating LiDAR and Metocean campaign project expectations. In this role, Richard oversees a team of project managers who work closely with client teams, internal groups and external partners to ensure AXYS provides accurate, reliable and complete data sets during its turnkey data campaigns — even in the face of harsh ocean conditions.

Khaira-Creswell is a seasoned metocean project manager with extensive experience with floating LiDAR and metocean technologies used to support key financial, operational and design decisions with robust high-quality data. A chartered scientist, marine scientist and marine technologist with IMaREST, Richard has a commitment to help advancing the industry. Khaira-Creswell has previously worked with Fugro and, most recently, Ørsted as Senior Metocean Engineer with the Measurements Team.

s Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology selects TRIAXYS Wave Buoy Network

AXYS Technologies Inc (AXYS) is pleased to announce that they have recently won a tender in partnership with Metocean Services International (MSI) to supply Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) with four TRIAXYS Wave buoys.

TRIAXYS Directional Wave BuoyThe Bureau of Meteorology is Australia’s national weather, climate and water agency. Through regular forecasts, warnings, monitoring and advice spanning the Australian region and Antarctic territory, the Bureau provides one of the most fundamental and widely used services of government. In support of the Bureau’s marine weather and ocean services, a wave observing system that enables continued automated observation and reporting of hydrological surface waves at Kangaroo Island, South Australia and Strahan, Tasmania was required.

The TRIAXYS accurately measures and transmits directional wave data using the TRIAXYS solid state wave sensor, which provides near real-time access to continuous wave measurements and does not require annual calibration.

The first two TRIAXYS Wave buoys have been delivered to BoM and are scheduled for deployment in August. The remaining two wave buoys will be built and sent in the fall of 2018. The MSI technical team will be on hand to assist BoM with deployment of the buoys and setting up operations.
Over the last decade, more than 300 TRIAXYS wave buoys have been deployed on various projects throughout the world. The TRIAXYS has been reliably proven to assist with safe Aid to Navigation activities, port operations, offshore construction, offshore wind farms, wave resource assessment, and National Meteorological coastal monitoring. The buoy has extensive success surviving harsh marine conditions at depths ranging from 10-300m and is easy to deploy with low maintenance costs.

s Ørsted Launches AXYS Technologies’ FLiDAR Buoy to Assess Offshore Conditions for Ocean Wind Project in New Jersey

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (July 16, 2018) – Ørsted, the global leader in offshore wind and the developer of Ocean Wind – an offshore wind farm to be located 10 miles off the coast of Atlantic City – announced today the deployment of a specialized buoy designed to measure wind and wave conditions. The AXYS FLiDAR WindSentinel is a floating LiDAR solution that will measure wind speed and direction to help determine the best locations and positions for wind turbines on the federally leased area.

“We are pleased to partner with AXYS Technologies and utilize their innovative technology to retrieve mission critical data,” said Thomas Brostrøm, President, Ørsted North America. “This is another important milestone for the project that will bring us closer to having the first utility scale offshore wind farm in New Jersey.”

Floating LiDAR is an innovative technology that integrates a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) on a moored buoy to provide accurate and reliable data on wind speed, wind direction, and turbulence at turbine hub-height. The AXYS FLiDAR WindSentinel buoy is also outfitted with a range of other sensors to measure surface wind speed and direction, directional waves, ocean currents, tide, salinity, water temperature, atmospheric pressure and air temperature, all of which help give a comprehensive data set of environmental conditions useful for wind resource assessment, turbine siting and contract management data, and site weather character development. The AXYS FLiDAR WindSentinel operates autonomously is powered by its own renewable energy system.

 

Technical experts from both companies were on hand at the event to provide information about the Ocean Wind project as well as the FLiDAR WindSentinel buoy, which was launched out of Gardner’s Basin in Atlantic City.

TRIAXYS Wave BuoyAXYS Technologies (AXYS) is pleased to announce the signing of an eight-year framework agreement with Météo-France on the supply of TRIAXYS Directional Wave buoys to build a wave measurement network along the coast of France.

“Météo-France aims to build a coastal measurement network, improve coastal forecasts, and assist in the protection of property throughout France. AXYS Technologies Inc. (AXYS) is pleased to announce we have met all of the Stage 3 performance criteria outlined in the Carbon Trust Offshore Wind Accelerator Roadmap for Floating LiDAR Technology (OWA Roadmap).

Since the initial deployment of our flagship FLiDAR system in 2009, along with the acquisition of FLiDAR NV in September 2015, AXYS’ FLiDAR buoys have successfully completed or have underway 20 commercial offshore wind assessment campaigns and 16 offshore met mast validations covering a wide range of operational, site and met ocean conditions in Europe, North America and Asia. AXYS has appointed Guillaume Gautier to the position of Director of Field Services based in Nantes, France.

This appointment represents the first time that AXYS has made such a senior operations appointment outside of their main office in Canada.

On the morning of Tuesday April 4th 2017 at 9:30am, Graham Howe, Director of Sales – Europe, will be giving a presentation that shows how AXYS-APS has been used to improve the accuracy of weather forecasting for offshore operations, using a case study from an offshore wind construction project. This presentation will take place in Classroom – Node – Room 2 074/02 of the National Oceanography Center.
