AXYS selected as VIATeC award finalistApril 26, 2010
Sidney, BC Canada
AXYS Technologies, Inc. (AXYS) is pleased to announce we have been selected as a finalist for a VIATeC Technology Award for Innovative Excellence. The Innovative Excellence award recognizes a company that has researched and designed an innovative service, process or product that is expected to revolutionize a sector, method of business or way of life. Designed and launched in 2009, the innovative WindSentinel™ wind resource assessment buoy is ground-breaking in the offshore wind power industry for four reasons: The WindSentinel™ requires substantially less time to deploy than a standard meteorological mast, it requires no significant licenses or governmental approvals, and it costs one-tenth of the traditional met tower while allowing developers to move and reuse the buoy in multiple locations and projects. The WindSentinel™ also has the ability to support additional sensors, allowing developers to perform wind assessment and comprehensive environmental monitoring, such as current and wave profiling from one buoy.
“We can all agree that innovations that accelerate the speed with which a given renewable energy project can contribute clean energy to the grid is a good thing” said Dennis Stacey, Renewables International Business Development Lead at AXYS. “The WindSentinel does just that and we’re very proud of that fact.”
Growth in the offshore wind power industry has been rapidly increasing with over 165 new wind farms planned across the globe in the next five years.
The Victoria Advanced Technology Council (VIATeC) 2010 Technology Awards Gala will be held Thursday May 13 at the Victoria Conference Centre.
